South Hills Classic:
-Jack Aulbach opens up his season nicely, with a win and a 4:29
-The next man up at Grove City? Soph Gabe Nichols runs really well to run a 4:31/2:02 double
-Powell looks smooth with a 1:56, but the 1:58 from Upper Saint Clair's Chris Hess was a real breakthrough for this early in the year
-6 guys under 10:00, Zack Marmol with a huge PR of 9:28 to put him near the top of PA out of nowhere as just a junior
-Of those 6 under 10:00, sophomore Dylan Throop runs 9:52. Keep an eye on him.
Bruce Dallas Invitational:
-Every event was super deep, so I feel bad missing out on a lot of awesome performances
-One of, if not the best performance in PA this weekend, Evan Dorenkamp's 4:25/1:55 double was insanely impressive.
-Dorenkamp couldn't win the 1600, as Connor Shields makes his case for AAA 1600 title contender, winning in 4:22, with teammate Noah Martin running 4:28
-Soph Peter Wolf of Wilson puts his nap on the map with a 4:27
-Cumberland Valley's Josh Willard is the only other sub 2 guy behind Dorenkamp
-Schuylkill Valley frosh Luke Seymour runs 2:04...
-Not to be shown up by his teammate, Ian Miller wins the 3200 in 9:25, followed by other impressive performances from Luke Klingenberg (9:35) and Casey Padgett (9:43)
-Palmyra picks up the 4x8 W over Carlisle (8:23 to 8:26)
Don Wilhour Selinsgrove Classic:
-Some great head to head battles in this one
-Ethan Knoebel and Logan Strouse went at it in the 1600, with Knoebel outlasting his counterpart for the win, 4:30 to 4:31
-A trio went at it in the 3200, with Krystof Lapotsky ( I said to keep an eye on this kid) picking up the win in 9:38 over Henry J. Lyon (9:39) and the phenom freshman, Jacob Hess (9:41)
-Owen Mahon of Williamsport wins the 800 in 2 flat
-What a 4x8!! Lewisburg's 8:14 just holds off Shikellamy and Central Columbia running a pair of 8:15's. For AA teams this early in the season, these are insanely quick
Bedford Giant Eagle Invitational:
-Nothing too crazy, but another impressive double for the sophomore Van May, who cruised to victories in a 4:47/9:54 double
Council Rock Kiwanis Invitational:
-Jeffrey Love outlasts Ethan Saville in the 5000, 16:18 to 16:29
-A 3:08 1200 leg from Eissler was all it took to break the field, as Pennridge impressively cruises to a 10:37 DMR win
-The big race was the 4x8, with Twin Valley blasting a PA #2 8:01 off of a monster 1:55 anchor leg from Dylan Servis (Hill and Schlegel respectively ran 1:59's)
-The indoor state champs Pennridge settled for 2nd, running 8:09 without Matt Eissler
PW Colonial Classic:
-The breakthrough for Luke O'Malley came this weekend, with an impressive 1:57.99 win, outleaning Andrew Woolery of Penncrest, who ran 1:58.
-Zeh ran 1:58.70 for 3rd. Heard he took a chunk of time off after indoor, so he's clearly getting back into shape
-Robert DiDonato is the real deal... The sophomore runs 4:23 to win over a formidable opponent in Frank Brown who ran 4:25.
-Didonato's teammate picked up a 3200 win in 9:46 over Penncrest teammates Benjamin Klinger and Patrick Theveny, not sure if Theveny is fully fit/coming off an injury
-Radnor and Germantown Academy were two just incredible team performances in this meet on the distance side
Temple Relays HS Meet:
-Saabir Ali runs 4:28 in a solo effort en route to his victory
Whippet Invitational:
-The 4x8 saw Garnet Valley just nip Downingtown West with both teams running 8:14, an Eric Albright anchor likely got the job done
-I liked Henderson's 8:21 as well
-Speaking of Albright, he came back to win the 800 in 1:58, with Valderrabano of Dwest finishing runner up in 1:59, and his teammate Chamoun rounding out the top 3 in 2:00
-Linus Blatz had an awesome outdoor season last year, and he kicks this one off on fire, running 4:25 for the 1600 win
-Dwest's sophomore Declyan Rymer impressed as well with a 4:30
WCU Golden Ram HS Invitational:
-To note, the Friday meets had less favorable weather than the Saturday invitationals
-In the 800, we finally(!) got to see Joey Power of Spring Ford break 2 and run 1:59.31, the kid had an awesome indoor season and deserved this
-Westtown School freshman William Nagy has put his name on the map, picking up the win in the 1600 with a 4:37
-The RunningHub

I think that to keep the spirit of Etrain alive the move is to get something like 3 to 5 contributors on one blog. Cycle through it so a different person writes the weekly recap posts each week. That way each person usually only has to write about one a month. The other writers can add any notes they want at the bottom of each recap. Just an idea
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree. Maybe split it regionally to reduce workload. Either way this seems like a great idea albeit somewhat difficult to organize.
DeleteAlso on the topic of Etrain, has anybody seen his recent tweet about the hypothetical subscription service for Etrain style blogs?

DeletePatrick Anderson looks unbeatable right now
DeleteSo does La Salle
Deletelasalle more like la assle
Deletela salle should win it all. They are so deep and 1-3 are the best in the state. I thnk Anderson should take title but for whatever reason, I think someone may pull the upset.
